上師又想了另一個方法來測試這三位信眾。這次他離開小屋,坐在外面一個開放的平臺上,他指示三個人在面前坐下,並向大家說:「今天我想對你們三個人開示,但我不會開口說任何一句話;相對地,我會給你們一些提示,你們必須觀看並試著理解這些提示。在這之後,你們分別到我的屋子裡來,告訴我你們理解到什麼。」話說完後,上師隨即沉默不語。接下來,上師從頭到腳看了自己一遍;然後,他抬起頭看向天空,隨後又低下頭,閉起雙眼幾分鐘;最後,他睜開雙眼並舉起手,做出象徵加持的施願印(Varad Mudra)。透過這些提示完成開示後,上師回到小屋中。

On the third day, the Guru thought of another technique for testing the aspirants. Instead of being seated in the hut, he chose to sit outside in the open on a platform. He seated all the three aspirants before him and said: “I wish to preach to you today, but I shall not do so by speaking. My preaching will be only through signals. You will have to watch and understand those signals. After that, you should come to my hut by turns and tell me what you have understood.” So saying, the Guru fell silent. After that, he looked around him in all directions. Next, he looked up at the sky above. Next, he looked down and closed his eyes for a few moments. Finally, he opened his eyes and displayed the varad Mudra, the gesture of blessing. Thus imparting his teaching in signals, the Guru returned to his hut.

  第三天,上師又想了另一個方法來測試這三位信眾。這次他離開小屋,坐在外面一個開放的平臺上,他指示三個人在面前坐下,並向大家說:「今天我想對你們三個人開示,但我不會開口說任何一句話;相對地,我會給你們一些提示,你們必須觀看並試著理解這些提示。在這之後,你們分別到我的屋子裡來,告訴我你們理解到什麼。」話說完後,上師隨即沉默不語。接下來,上師從頭到腳看了自己一遍;然後,他抬起頭看向天空,隨後又低下頭,閉起雙眼幾分鐘;最後,他睜開雙眼並舉起手,做出象徵加持的施願印(Varad Mudra)。透過這些提示完成開示後,上師回到小屋中。

Thinking over the matter for a while, Mokul was the first to enter the Guru’s hut. He said: “Guruji! There must be a visitor coming to see you so that you were awaiting his arrival. Wondering why he had not arrived yet, you looked around on all sides of yourself. Then you looked up to indicate that God must have considered that you may not meet that visitor today. So, as if to say, ‘the Lord’s will prevails’, you briefly closed your eyes. Finally, you blessed us by raising your hand in varad Mudra and went towards your hut.” In this way, Mokul gave his interpretation of all the signals and thereafter left the hut.

  經過一段時間的思考,摩庫第一個走進上師的小屋,他說:「上師!這一定是有位客人想來見您,所以您正在等他。但您一邊打量自己一邊思索為何他還沒來,於是您便抬起頭,猜想這一定是上天安排好不讓您在今天與客人見面;心中有了這樣的想法後,您就低下頭來閉上眼睛;最後,您舉起手以施願印為我們加持完畢,才又回到屋子裡。」。摩庫在敘述完他對這些暗示的理解後,便離開小屋。

Next, it was Balak’s turn. The following is what he had understood from the signals. “Guruji, when you cast your eyes all around you, the thought must have come to your mind that you have developed this ashram and expanded it on all sides, but you have now become old so you must hand over the administration and management of this and other ashrams to some fit disciple and yourself take complete retirement from their affairs. With such thoughts, you must have looked up to pray to God, ‘Lord, kindly show me the suitable person to whom I can hand over this responsibility.’ After that, you must have waited for God’s reply with closed eyes. God must have told you to hand over the administration of the ashrams to the three disciples seated before you, for they are all competent enough to handle their administration. So you opened your eyes and displayed the varad Mudra to give us all your blessings. With this signal you told us all three, ‘Disciples! Now all of you take over the responsibility of the ashrams and lighten my load.’ Thus Balak narrated his understanding of the signals and left the hut.

  接著是巴拉喀,他如此解釋自己對這些提示的理解:「上師,當您從頭開始檢視自己全身的時候,心中一定是這麼想著:『我好不容易將道場建設完畢,並努力使其朝全方位發展;但如今年事已高,必須將經營管理的工作交付給有能力勝任的弟子接手,如此才能安心隱退。』帶著這樣的心願,您必須抬起頭來祈求:『諸佛菩薩啊,請慈悲地為我找尋能交付如此重責大任的合適人選。』祈求過後,您閉上雙眼等待佛菩薩的回應;而佛菩薩必然這麼告訴您:『可以將此任務託付給眼前的三位弟子,他們有能力做好經營管理的工作。』因此,您睜開雙眼,手結施願印為我們賜福加持;同時,透過這個動作您告訴我們:『弟子們啊!你們現在將接下管理道場的重任,為我分勞解憂。』」巴拉喀說完關於這些提示的想法後,也跟著離開了。

Lastly, it was Dhimat’s turn. He narrated his interpretation in this manner: “Guruji! You looked on all sides to preach to us that God is on all sides, all-pervading. You looked up to convey that God is in heaven too; and looked down to explain that He is in Patal (nether world) too. Next, you closed your eyes and taught us that God is within us and there is no need to run about here and there in the world outside. To realize Him, close your eyes and meditate, for Ishvar is seated in the hearts of all Pranis, all that lives. Finally, you opened your eyes and gave us your blessing to effect that ‘God bless you all and grant you spiritual salvation.” After narrating his understanding of the signals in this manner according to his understanding, Dhimat paid respects to the Guru and left the hut.

  最後輪到諦馬特進入小屋,他開口講述自己的領悟:「上師!當您環視自己的時候,是在告訴我們諸佛菩薩無處不在,無所不現;您抬起頭來,暗示我們諸佛菩薩在上方世界,低下頭,則暗示我們諸佛菩薩也在下方世界;隨後,您閉起眼睛,教導我們佛菩薩就在心中,不必到外在世界尋求。此外,若想明瞭諸佛菩薩究竟何為,只須閉上眼睛進行禪觀,因為諸佛菩薩就端坐在一切眾生心中。最後,您睜開雙眼舉起手為我們祈福,象徵諸佛菩薩不但為我們加持,更為我們帶來靈性解脫。」如此說明完自己的理解後,諦馬特向上師頂禮並離開小屋。
